The port of La Guaira is Venezuela's main commercial window to the world. Located just 30 kilometers from Caracas, the country's capital, this historic port has been since the 16th century the most important entry and exit point for merchandise in Venezuelan territory. The modern port facilities, administered by Bolipuertos and private operators, include container, bulk, general cargo, and vehicle terminals, with capacity to serve vessels of up to 45,000 gross tons.
