Güiria is Venezuela's easternmost port and the only one with direct access to the Gulf of Paria, a body of water shared with Trinidad and Tobago that hosts important offshore oil operations. Güiria's geographic location makes it a unique strategic point: it is the Venezuelan port closest to Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago), facilitating coordination of binational operations, platform supply, and attention to vessels operating on the maritime border between both countries.
